Croatian lifestyle 'lures expatriate community'

An increasing number of people are moving to Croatia to become an expatriate in one of the countries cultural cities, according to Buy Association.
Paul Collins, property editor of the website, said that cities like Split and Dubrovnik provide a lot as cultural centres, while islands off the coast of Croatia are also popular with expatriates.
"Dubrovnik in particular attracts quite high level tourists really. It has become very popular with some of the jet-set," he said.
Mr Collins went on to say that more people will want to become an expatriate in Croatia following the government's decision to relax laws on foreign buyers purchasing property in the country.
"We tend to find that there is a massive amount of red tape for people to get through so anything that will cut that down in any way is more than welcome," he added.
From February 2009, foreign buyers will be able to purchase property on the same terms as local Croats.
