Cost-conscious expat medical insurance customers 'should consider Turkey'

Turkey offers an enticing option for Britons looking to stretch sterling to its utmost, Club Alla Turca has claimed.
According to the organisation, there has been a sharp rise in visitor numbers to the country in recent months as sterling has continued to languish against the euro, with further increases expected now that the country has overcome a recent H1N1 outbreak.
The recent pandemic may have highlighted the importance of expat medical insurance policies for those living overseas, particularly in countries where access to public health services is limited.
Meanwhile, Post Office Travel Insurance has recently drawn attention to the vaccination procedures advised for those visiting Turkey after a poll revealed 83 per cent of people were not aware they would need a jab to visit the country.
Courses or boosters are usually advised for hepatitis A, typhoid, diphtheria and tetanus, while vaccines for hepatitis B and rabies are also recommended in certain circumstances.
Elsewhere, the Expat Blog has advised those considering a move to the country that it is "crucial" to research expat medical insurance policies affording suitable levels of cover.
