Copenhagen is 'top European destination for expats'

Expatriate insurance customers from Europe have voted Copenhagen as the top European country in which to relocate.

A study by ECA International revealed that Denmark's capital is the most popular destination for Europeans looking to stay in the same continent but move to another country.

The city was ranked highest based on a number of criteria, such as infrastructure, crime rate and air quality.

German cities also proved particularly popular, with Dusseldorf, Bonn and Munich all placing in the top ten.

Those considering taking out an expat insurance policy might also wish to look at eastern European cities, such as Bratislava and Bucharest.

Improvements to security in these metropolitan areas saw them move up the rankings to 20th and 14th respectively.

While Europe is a popular destination, many Britons are looking at moving to Australia, according to data released by mortgage broker Loan Market.

The firm recently claimed that a large number of expat insurance customers are looking at coastal properties in southern Australia.
