Business travel demand 'will grow in 2010'

Expatriate workers reporting to offices around the world may find they have to wait a little longer before resuming travel plans.
According to corporate solution firm Egencia, the business travel sector is likely to show growth around six months after the recession lifts.
Christophe Peymirat, vice president and managing director of the firm's UK division, said: "We would expect to see the market begin growing within six months of the end of economic recession and globally, we're hearing that quarter two in 2010 will see a recovery in travel demand."
Predictions from the American Express Global Business Travel Forecast suggested that business class fares are likely to become more expensive next year as airlines reduce capacity while demand grows.
Commenting on the projections, Mr Peymirat noted that although businesses may begin to travel again, they will be more concerned about value for money.
"What will be consistent is the need for full transparency as businesses will want to continue maximising value in their travel programmes," he added.
