Burgundy in France attracts many visitors because it has a variety of attractions, says the region's press officer.
Veronique Beigenger at Maison de la France notes that the area, which is famous for its wines, has other world famous attributes.
Ms Beigenger says that both the Abbey of Fontenay and the Church of Vezelay "are classified by Unesco World Heritage".
The area is especially attractive to families and appeals to many tourists because of its castles, rivers and canals, she added.
In the Burgundy region there are more than 1,000 holiday homes owned by Brits, according to the tourist office's publication The One and Many Faces of Burgundy.
Many expats settle happily in France, some even commute across the channel and continue to work in London and the south-east.
