Britons warned over Thai protests

British expatriates living in Thailand have been urged not to get involved in the current wave of protests, amid fears that the events could turn ugly.
The Thai military has already begun a crackdown on the anti-government protestors and there are fears that battles between the authorities and the demonstrators could break out across the country.
As a result, it is important that British people now living in Thailand are properly covered by expatriate healthcare insurance, in the event that they get caught up in the demonstrations.
The anti-government protests have officially ended in Bangkok, but the military has maintained a visible presence in the city and across the country in an effort to deter any further action by opponents.
Thailand's finance minister has suggested the government may have to expand its economic stimulus plans in light of the protests, the BBC has reported.
Protestors have been showing support for former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, with a group of up to 100,000 protesters being mobilised in recent weeks and managing to cancel a regional summit.
