'Britons come to Greece to settle down'
20/08/09 13:43
Britons are choosing to buy property in Greece when they retire, says the country's tourist agency.
Sofia Panayiotaki, director of the UK and Ireland office at the Greek National Tourism Organisation, admitted that changing exchange rates had affected visitor numbers but insisted Brits are still buying property.
"There is a trend of people buying houses in Greece and they buy property for their retirement too. Britons do decide to come to retire in Greece," Ms Panayiotaki explained.
She also noted that August was a good month for the country's tour operators and explained that winter trips may also appeal.
According to information provided by expatforum.com, the Greek government's allocation on healthcare is low.
Britons could investigate the cost of setting up expatriate health insurance before they emigrate to ensure they get the best possible cover.
