British expats 'tempted by Qatar's top pay'
26/08/09 17:49
British expatriates working in Qatar are likely to have been attracted to the region by generous pay offers, research has found.
The Qatar Jobs Survey revealed that money was the single largest motivating factor, according to travel website QatarVisitor.com.
It found 46.8 per cent of expatriates said they were most influenced by financial reward, although there were also several other factors expatriates considered.
Almost a third (28.1 per cent) said they wanted to experience another culture and just over five per cent claimed it was the adventure of living abroad, while almost nine per cent explained that they moved because of work shortages in their own country.
Before moving to the Gulf state, Brits are advised to review their international health insurance arrangements and note the country's employment law.
Currently almost all foreign employees require sponsorship from a firm before they start work in Qatar.
