'British expatriates should look for international Sim cards'

When abroad, Brits could save money on their phone bills by buying themselves international SIM cards, claims a mobile phone comparison site.
According to Recombu.com, getting a new Sim card should be on travellers' 'to do' lists if they intend to spend longer periods overseas.
Tom Newton, spokesman for the company, said: "As well as getting travel insurance, sun cream and tea bags sorted and packed before you head off, a good idea would be to invest in an international Sim card."
British expatriates commonly seek out deals on international health insurance before they leave the UK. According to Mr Newton, they could also make calls cheaply by changing their SIM card.
"For a one-off fee you can make low-cost calls to numbers back home, or if someone calls you it won't cost you an arm and a leg to receive it," he explained.
Mobile phone providers also allow customers to switch to roaming packages before they travel and recent changes in EU law have cut call costs further.
