British Expatriates still want dream home in Oz

For British expatriates Australia is still a popular country and it is the destination of choice for Brits looking for a dream home.

Most people (85 per cent) are still not living in their dream home, says insurer Legal and General. The firm has discovered that more than a quarter of Brits would want their ideal home to be abroad.

The most popular country in which people want to settle is Australia. According to the firm's poll one in five Brits' dream house would be on the other side of the world.

Like most people, Brits like their peace and quiet - after price (31 per cent), the most important features of new homes are peaceful location (15 per cent) and size of rooms (14 per cent).

British expatriates may find the Australian healthcare system is similar to the NHS, although without private medical insurance new residents will soon find only 70 per cent of their new country's health expenditure is government-funded.
