Brit expats tour traditional Turkish dancing

27/03/09 16:23

Six British expatriates are performing traditional dancing as they travel around Turkey, news provider Today's Zaman has reported.

Yesterday the troupe performed on the ski slopes of the Sarikamis district of Kars, attracting interest and praise from the local residents.

Oludeniz Municipality Arts House Director Coskun Karabulut told the publication: "The British folk dance team dress like Turks and perform like Turks. They memorise the lyrics of the songs and sing them during the performance. This is very nice."

It was not so easy performing on the snow, said one of the dancers, expatriate Pat Temiz.

The group of three women and three men danced in the Bayraktepe Ski Center.

Today's Zaman claimed Pat said it was both dangerous and enjoyable to be dancing on the snow.

Advisory site Shelter Offshore notes that expatriates who fall ill should be able to find English speaking doctors in the country's private hospitals.
