Brazilian development 'must be environmentally sensitive'

Tourism officials in Brazil have said they are doing everything in their power to limit the impact of property developments on the country's environment.
Expatriate workers planning a move to the Latin American nation may be interested to hear comments made by a Ministry of Tourism representative at an investment event in London last week (October 21st).
Laercio Souza, coordinator of inward investment at the department, said strict laws would maintain the country's unique natural landscape, providing both environmental and economic benefits.
He added that there is much more to Brazil than its famous beaches, recommending newcomers to the country take a trip inland to see more varied landscape.
"We have high mountains, long stretches with underground rivers and caves. We have the biggest complex of caves in the worlds. We have 275 waterfalls in just one place," noted the tourism expert.
Mr Souza's comments were made at the Why Brazil? Why Now? Investment Opportunities in Real Estate & Tourism Markets event, held in the English capital's Embassy of Brazil.
