There are many reasons for a person to move abroad and become an expatriate in Brazil, according to the Embassy of Brazil.

Tom Falcao, general manager of the Brazilian tourist office in London, said that Brazil has a cheaper cost of living and the currency exchange rate favours people moving to the country from England.

"Due to the exchange rate the pound can go a long way," he said.

Mr Falcao went on to say that it is very easy for a foreigner to buy property in Brazil and the country has many things to offer such as a warm climate and an infrastructure which has been boosted by increased tourism in recent years.

"Brazil cannot offer skiing, but apart from that, we can offer all sorts of things," he added.

Research by BuyAssociation revealed that the cost of living in Brazil is 20 per cent of that in the UK.
