Blogs 'help expats immerse themselves in Parisian life'

Reading an expatriate blog about living in Paris is an ideal way to prepare for a move to the French capital, says a travel expert.

Writing for Budget Travel magazine, journalist Meg Zimbeck suggests travellers follow an expat's blog to learn more about the "ecstasies and agonies of life abroad".

Due to an increasing number of bloggers, she says there is a wealth of tips and recommendations available online and lists some of her favourite sites.

Those with a keen interest in books may be interested in Maitresse, a blog offering essays and observations about Parisian literary life, in addition to hints about cultural events around the city.

Just Another American in Paris, meanwhile, could help those new to the city adjust to unfamiliar etiquette by reading its writer's musings on subjects including manners and the French class system.

Finally, perhaps the most famous of Ms Zimbeck's selection is Petite Anglaise.

Written by Catherine Sanderson, this blog has since been adapted into a book and follows the author's romantic and family life since moving from the UK to France.
