Belize 'up and coming' expatriate destination
25/02/09 19:02
More people may move abroad and become an expatriate in Belize because of the country's property market, according to an expert.
The central American nation - which benefits from a tropical climate and English as its primary language - may not have previously appeared on the radar for property buyers, but one expert believes that it is set for a boom.
Director of the overseas investment portal Property Abroad, Les Calvert, commented that two-bedroom apartments in the country are currently selling for about £200,000, but could be set for further rises.
He said: "While Belize never really became massive news as an emerging market, its emergence - if largely silent - was one of the quickest and most profitable of all overseas markets.
"Belize is a fantastic place to buy a property, whether you are buying a holiday home or an investment property."
The foreign currency exchange rate for the country is £1.00 to 2.8786 Belize dollars.
