Alternative expatriate hotspots revealed
27/02/09 19:20
For those seeking an alternative relocation to Spain, Morocco, Brazil and Panama have emerged as the "current hotspots", experts say.
Cary Johnston, spokesperson for Propertyshowrooms.com, said: "All can offer beachfront properties, low entry level investments, excellent payment terms and favourable climates."
Figures from RightmoveOverseas.co.uk show that there has been a 120 per cent year-on-year rise in interest in properties in Morocco.
"Morocco has beautiful sandy beaches, a low-cost of living, with French, Spanish and English widely spoken," Mr Johnston added.
Moneyweek recently reported that GDP in Brazil is growing at well over four per cent a year, with the middle class expanding at speed and for the first time mortgages are readily available. This significant rise in wealth is already reflected in much of Brazil's coastal market, it is claimed.
Meanwhile in Panama, the company is receiving double the searches they were getting for the central American country this time last year.
Mr Johnston commented that Brazil currently offers an excellent currency exchange and good airport connections, while Panama also boasts a modern and efficient transport infrastructure.
